Privacy Policy

Video Compressor Audio & Photo compresses your files on your device. This policy explains the little information that is involved, who handles it, and the choices you have.

Effective 16 October 2026 · Applies to the Video Compressor Audio & Photo app on iOS, iPadOS and Android, and to this website

The short version

  • Your photos, videos and audio never leave your device. All compression happens on your phone or tablet. We have no server that receives your files.
  • No account. We don't ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the app.
  • No analytics or crash reporting of our own.
  • The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers and related data to show and measure ads. On iPhone and iPad you're asked whether to allow tracking, and saying no still lets you use everything. Pro turns ads off.
  • Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.

1. Who we are

Video Compressor Audio & Photo (the “App”) is developed and published by GamifyApps (“we”, “us”). For the processing described in this policy that we decide on, GamifyApps is the data controller. You can reach us at support@gamifyapps.com.

2. Your files

When you choose a video, photo or audio file, the App reads it, compresses or converts it on your device, and writes the result to storage on your device (for example your Photos library, gallery or Files). Your media is not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.

The App uses the system photo and document pickers, which give the app access only to the specific files you select, for as long as it needs them to finish the job. If you share a file into the App from another app, the same applies.

By default the compressed copy does not carry over your photo's location data; you can choose what metadata to keep in the app's settings. The App never modifies or deletes the original file in your photo library or Files; it only removes its own temporary working copies.

3. Permissions the app asks for

The App asks only for what a feature needs, at the moment you use that feature. You can refuse or withdraw any permission in your device settings; the related feature will stop working, but the rest of the app will not.

PermissionPlatformWhy

Full photo library accessiOSOnly if you choose to save into a “Video Compressor” album in Settings — iOS requires full access to create an album. If you decline, results are saved to your camera roll instead.
Camera and microphoneiOS, AndroidOnly if you choose to record a video or take a photo inside the App to compress straight away. Recordings stay on your device.
NotificationsAndroid, iOSTo tell you when a batch has finished and, on Android, to show its progress while it runs in the background. Optional.
Foreground serviceAndroidSo a batch can keep running while you use other apps.
Storage (write)Android 10 and earlier onlyTo save results to your gallery on older Android versions, which require it.
Advertising ID (AD_ID)AndroidDeclared by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for the free, ad-supported version. See Advertising.
Allow tracking (App Tracking Transparency)iOSAsked once, when you first open the app. If you allow it, ads in the free version can use your device's advertising identifier to be more relevant. If you don't, ads are still shown, but without that identifier. See Advertising.

The App does not request access to your contacts, precise location, or your whole photo library to pick files.

4. Information kept only on your device

To work, the app stores a few things locally, in its own private storage on your device:

  • your settings (for example default format, appearance and save location);
  • a history of your compressions (file name, type, sizes, settings used and date), so you can see what you've saved;
  • the state of a batch in progress, so it can resume if the app is closed; and
  • temporary working files, which are removed automatically.

None of this is sent to us. It is deleted when you uninstall the app. Depending on your device's backup settings, it may be included in your own iCloud or Google device backup, which is governed by Apple's or Google's terms.

5. Advertising

The free version of the App is supported by ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC (Google Ireland Limited for users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland). The ads SDK runs inside the app and connects to Google to request and display ads. In doing so, Google may collect and process:

  • Device identifiers — on Android, the advertising ID; on iOS, the advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when the App asks;
  • IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location (such as country or city);
  • Device and app information — device model, operating system and version, language, and app version;
  • Ad interaction data — which ads were shown, tapped or viewed; and
  • Diagnostic information about how the ads SDK is performing.

Google uses this to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance, detect fraud and abuse, and — where permitted by your choices and the law — show ads based on your interests. Google acts under its own privacy policy: see Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Your choices about ads

  • EEA, UK and Switzerland: before any ads are requested, the App shows Google's consent message (Google's User Messaging Platform, a certified consent management platform) so you can accept or reject personalised ads and related data processing. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy choices in the app.
  • Android: you can delete or reset your advertising ID in your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads (or Settings → Google → Ads).
  • iOS / iPadOS: when you first open the App, iOS asks whether to allow it to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, Google receives no advertising identifier from the App and the ads you see are not based on tracking. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, where the App is listed.
  • Everywhere: you can manage Google's ad personalisation at My Ad Center.
  • Pro: with an active Pro purchase, the app does not load or show ads.

Some features of the free version can be unlocked by choosing to watch a rewarded ad. Watching one is always optional.

6. Purchases

Pro is sold as an in-app purchase through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store processes your payment and handles your billing information under its own privacy policy (Apple, Google). The app receives only a confirmation from the store that a purchase is active, which it checks on your device to unlock Pro features. We do not receive your name, email address or payment card details.

7. Analytics and crash reporting

The App contains no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK, and we do not build profiles of how you use the app. Apple and Google may provide us with aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as install counts, and crash reports if you have chosen to share them with developers in your device settings). These come to us through App Store Connect and Google Play Console under Apple's and Google's policies and do not identify you.

8. Sharing and selling

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone other than as described above: the data Google's ads SDK collects for advertising (Section 5) and the purchase handling by Apple or Google (Section 6). We may disclose information if required to do so by law. Where the advertising described above counts as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under US state privacy laws, you can opt out using the ad controls described in Section 5.

9. Children

The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will help remove it.

10. Retention and deletion

We do not operate a server that stores your data, so there is nothing about you held by us to delete, and there is no account to close. Everything the app keeps is on your device and is removed when you delete the app. Data collected by Google for advertising is retained under Google's policies; you can manage or delete it through your Google account and the controls in Section 5.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, or the CCPA/CPRA and other US state laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising. Because we do not hold personal information about you, most requests are best directed to Google for advertising data, using the links above. You are still welcome to contact us at support@gamifyapps.com and we will answer within the time the law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Where the GDPR applies, the legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (providing the app's features and Pro purchases), your consent (personalised advertising where required), and our legitimate interest in funding a free app through non-personalised advertising.

12. Security and international transfers

Because your media is processed on your device and never transmitted by us, it is protected by your device's own security. Network connections made by the ads SDK and the app stores use encrypted HTTPS. Google may process advertising data in countries other than yours, including the United States, under safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

13. This website

This website has no cookies, no analytics and no advertising, and its fonts are hosted with the site rather than loaded from a third party. A theme preference may be saved in your browser's local storage, and it never leaves your browser. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for a short period for security and reliability. Links to the App Store and Google Play take you to those services, which have their own policies.

14. Changes to this policy

If we change how the App handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above, and update the App Store and Google Play privacy disclosures to match. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
